Gill’s team became table topper after defeating Hyderabad, Kohli’s RCB suffered a big loss
New Delhi: Gujarat Titans defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 82 runs in the world’s largest cricket stadium i.e. Narendra Modi Stadium and made a strong entry in the points table of IPL 2026 with 16 points. In the midst of a high-scoring season, this match was in the name of the bowlers.
Gujarat defeated Hyderabad
Let us tell you that playing first on a difficult pitch, GT made a fighting score of 168/5. Then the bowlers did wonders and reduced SRH to just 86 runs in 14.5 overs. Hyderabad batsmen were unable to read the pitch and looked under pressure throughout the innings. With this victory, Gujarat further strengthened its claim in the race for top-2.
Sudarshan-Washington took over the innings
The GT suffered setbacks in the beginning. Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler were out in the powerplay itself and the score became 34/2. Nishant Sindhu tried to change the atmosphere with a quick inning of 22 runs. But the real work was done by the 60-run partnership of Sai Sudarshan and Washington Sundar. Both scored half-centuries intelligently. Sudarshan scored 61 runs in 44 balls with 5 fours and 2 sixes. Whereas Washington played an inning of 50 runs in 33 balls with 7 fours and 1 six.
SRH bowlers put up a tough fight
On a double-tempered pitch, SRH bowlers did not allow GT to play freely. Praful Hinge recorded impressive figures of 2/17 in 3 overs. Captain Pat Cummins also bowled tightly and took 1 wicket for just 20 runs in 4 overs.
Rabada-Holder broke his back
SRH got off to a bad start while chasing the target. Mohammad Siraj dismissed Travis Head for zero on the very first ball. Abhishek Sharma started with a six but unfortunately got out off the bowling of Kagiso Rabada. Rabada did not stop here, he also sent Ishan Kishan and young Smaran Ravichandran to the pavilion.
Holder shines by taking 3 wickets including Klaasen
Jason Holder dashed SRH’s hopes. He dismissed Orange Cap holder Heinrich Klaasen, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Shivang Kumar and took 3 wickets for 20 runs. Prasidh Krishna and Rashid Khan also contributed by taking wickets. The entire SRH team disintegrated under pressure and was all out for 86 runs.
