Nutritionist Lavneet Batra writes in an Instagram post, “Ginger is one of the most important spices used in the Indian kitchen, it is pungent and aromatic. It is widely used for its medicinal properties. Right now the winter season is going on. We need a diet that keeps us warm and healthy. Ginger is one of them.

Helps in digestion: Ginger helps in digesting food and prevents gas formation. Apart from its ability to reduce nausea and vomiting, ginger is also used by many people to improve overall digestion.

Effective in cold, cough and flu: The medicinal properties of ginger can soothe inflammation and sore throat. It is antibacterial and can help protect us from winter viruses.

Reduces joint pain: Ginger has anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and anti-cancer properties. Because of this, it is believed to boost your overall immunity. Its anti-inflammatory properties are especially beneficial for people suffering from arthritis.

Helps reduce bad cholesterol: Ginger activates an enzyme that increases the body’s utilization of cholesterol and reduces it.
