‘Give us 4 tickets, we are VIPs, will not stand in line’ Karnataka MLAs asked for free tickets and special seats for IPL
IPL 2026: A big controversy has arisen regarding IPL tickets in the current session of Karnataka Assembly. The first match of IPL has not even been played yet, but Karnataka MLAs have started asking for special tickets from the State Cricket Association (KSCA). MLAs from the ruling Congress and opposition BJP unanimously said that they should not be made to stand in the normal queue to watch the match. Many MLAs clearly said, “We are VIPs, we cannot stand in the queue.”
Opposition leader’s sharp attack on KSCA
Opposition leader R. Ashoka fiercely targeted the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) in the Assembly. He said, “We have given them 16.32 acres of land on rent for just Rs 1,600 per month, but they charge us thousands of rupees for giving us match tickets. They have crores of rupees, yet they are looting the MLAs.”
Ashoka also raised the question that when KSCA is earning so much money then why does the government want to build a new stadium for them. He said that such organizations need to be taught a lesson.
MLAs demand 4 tickets
The MLAs complain that KSCA often gives them only one ticket each. They demanded that when an MLA goes to watch a match, he should be given at least four tickets along with his family. Assembly Speaker U. T. Khadar agreed on this issue and said that the government should solve this problem by talking to KSCA.
Deputy Chief Minister’s assurance
Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar assured the MLAs in the House that he would personally talk to the KSCA officials. He said, “I will talk to the KSCA president in the name of the MLAs. I am also a member there. The MLAs should get this facility.” Shivkumar jokingly said that this is a request from ‘Emperor’ Ashoka.
Congress MLA’s statement
Congress MLA Vijayanand Kashappanwar while talking to the media reiterated that MLAs are VIPs. “We should not be made to stand in queues like ordinary people for tickets,” he said.
This issue is now much discussed after it was raised in the Assembly. There is a possibility of talks between the government and the cricket association regarding the demand of giving special tickets and better seats to the MLAs from KSCA.
