Marcus Rashford future: Ligue 1 club enter race to sign Man United forward?

A Ligue 1 club reportedly enters the race to sign Manchester forward Marcus Rashford, who is set to leave Old Trafford in the winter transfer window.

Monaco have reportedly entered the race to sign Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford before next month’s transfer deadline.

Rashford has been heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford ever since he admitted he was ready for “a new challenge” in an interview with Henry Winter in December.

The 27-year-old has fallen out of favour under Reuben Amorimmissing from four consecutive matchday squads, before he returned to the fold as an unused substitute against Newcastle United.

However, Rashford dropped back out of the matchday squad for last Sunday’s 2-2 draw against Liverpool due to illness.

It remains to be seen whether he returns to the squad for Sunday’s FA Cup third-round tie with Arsenal amid speculation surrounding his future at Old Trafford.

Monaco enter Rashford race

The Man United academy product has been linked with a number of potential suitors, including Italian giants AC Milan.

New Milan boss Sergio Conceição refused to rule out a move for Rashford when asked about the transfer speculation in Friday’s press conference.

According to The TelegraphMonaco are set to join Milan in the race to sign Rashford before the transfer window shuts on February 3.

The report claims that Monaco have added Rashford to their transfer shortlist, with the Ligue 1 club keen to add a wide forward to Adi Hutter‘s squad.

Monaco have one financial advantage over a number of Rashford’s other European suitors due to the fact he would not have to pay income tax if he opted to move to the Principality.

Who else is in the running to sign Rashford?

In addition to Milan and Monaco, Rashford is believed to be attracting interest from Catalan giants Barcelona and German club Borussia Dortmund.

Juventus have also been linked with a loan move for the Man United man, with a temporary departure the most likely prospect in the winter transfer window.

West Ham United could potentially offer the chance for Rashford to remain in the Premier League, as the Hammers look to strengthen their forward options under new manager Graham Potter.

Como were also believed to be interested in Rashford’s services, but they have since been ruled out of the race for his signature.
