Glenn Maxwell snubs RCB teammate Virat Kohli and picks the South Africa player as the best batter he has ever bowled to

Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has picked the best batter he has ever bowled to. He didn’t take the name of his Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) teammate Virat Kohli but went with the former South Africa captain AB de Villiers. Legendary Proteas batter also played for RCB for several seasons and shares a good bond with Virat. De Villiers is considered one of the best batters in the history of cricket and was renowned for his 360-degree game.

The right-handed batter was known for targeting areas that had not been touched before by any batter. He was sensational across formats and won several matches for the national team. Even in franchise cricket, the explosive batter was unstoppable.

His track record was magnificent in all formats of the game. During a conversation with ESPNCricinfo, Glenn Maxwell was asked to name the best batter he has ever bowled to among Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers. It was a tricky question for the Australian star, but he preferred De Villiers over Virat.

Maxwell said that he took Virat’s wickets a couple of times, so he didn’t take his name. When talking about the South African star, he said that AB de Villiers could hit the ball to any part of the stadium.

“Virat Kohli is good, but I dismissed him a couple of times. AB de Villiers was excellent, and he could hit the ball anywhere,” Glenn Maxwell said.

Maxwell also recalled a tri-series involving Australia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe in Harare. “During a match against South Africa in Harare, Faf du Plessis and AB de Villiers scored hundreds. The wicket was good for the spinners, but the two went hard against me. They hit me for fours and sixes,” he added.

Kohli is likely to be retained by RCB for IPL 2025, but there is confirmation on Maxwell.
