According to the report of British media BBC, many foreign nationals who had come to India for treatment were also among those who died in the fire in the South Delhi building. This building was being used as a guest house (bed and breakfast), where patients undergoing treatment in a nearby private hospital and their families used to stay.
However, no information has been received about the people present in the building at the time of the fire. The fire officer said that the fire was controlled very quickly and now the building has been handed over to the police.

Delhi government minister Ashish Sood said that whether the building was allowed to be used as a guest house or not…it is being investigated. If any negligence or violation of rules is confirmed, strict legal action will be taken against those responsible.

This hotel, built near Max Hospital, had a total of 24 rooms which were mainly for the patients and their relatives visiting Saket Max Hospital. People come here for the treatment of their loved ones, stay and return to their homes after the treatment is completed. People coming for treatment from Bangladesh, Africa and other countries around India also stayed here. Mostly foreigners were staying in all these rooms. The fire that broke out in the restaurant spread to the entire building in a short time and people were left with no way to escape. People had to break window glass and jump down from buildings to save their lives.
Mayor ordered a high level investigation
Delhi Mayor Parvesh Wahi has ordered a high-level inquiry into the massive fire that broke out in a restaurant located in Malviya Nagar, Delhi. He has written a letter to the Municipal Commissioner directing him to thoroughly investigate the cause of the fire and submit the report within three days. He has clarified that if during the investigation the role of any officer or employee is found suspicious or any kind of administrative negligence comes to light, then strict action will be taken against the culprits.
