Global Terrorism Index 2026: Pakistan becomes the world’s biggest terrorist center…Nepal and Bangladesh….

New Delhi. The latest report of ‘Global Terrorism Index’ (GTI) 2026 released regarding the changing nature of terrorism at the global level has made shocking revelations. According to statistics, neighboring country Pakistan has now become the most terrorism affected country in the world. In this list, Pakistan has achieved the top position, leaving Burkina Faso behind. While on one hand Pakistan is facing the brunt of the thorns sown by itself, on the other hand India has set an example to the world in curbing terrorism.

Worst phase of 10 years for Pakistan

According to the report, the year 2025 has proved to be the most frightening year of the last decade for Pakistan. According to statistics, a total of 1,045 terrorist incidents were recorded in Pakistan during this period, in which 1,139 people lost their lives. Experts believe that Pakistan is now having to suffer the consequences of making terrorism a part of its ‘state policy’. Cross-border terrorist activities have received new energy, especially since the return of the Taliban to Afghanistan in 2021.

TTP and BLA increased problems, war like situation

The main reason for this decline in the report has been attributed to the increasing activism of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). The TTP has used Afghan soil as a launchpad to launch a series of attacks in Pakistan, which has seen a massive increase of 24 percent. Apart from this, incidents like the activation of Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) and hijacking of Jafar Express train have exposed the security arrangements. The situation is such that a war-like situation has arisen between Pakistan and Afghanistan in February 2026, due to which the stability of the entire South Asia is in danger.

India’s ‘zero tolerance’ policy pays off, 43% reduction in attacks

In contrast to the plight of Pakistan, India’s situation seems quite balanced and positive. The GTI 2026 report ranks India at 13th position globally with a score of 6.428. India has achieved effective success in curbing terrorist incidents. According to statistics, a significant reduction of 43 percent has been recorded in terrorist attacks in India in the year 2025. India’s score has steadily improved over the past decade, a result of the country’s strong security posture and tough stance against terrorism.

Nepal and Bangladesh set an example of peace

While there is an atmosphere of unrest in South Asia, Nepal has maintained its peace with ‘zero terrorist incidents’ for the third consecutive year. At the same time, Bangladesh has also surprised the world by registering a 100 percent decline in terrorist attacks in 2025. The report warns that if military tension between Pakistan and Afghanistan does not stop, it could create new opportunities for terrorist organizations.
