GMs New Tactical Truck Is A Diesel Hybrid

GM’s new tactical vehicle is the perfect vehicle for apocalypse. Underneath the hardcore bodyshell lies a very familiar truck. It is based on the Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD ZR2 buts its heavily kitted out and there is no similarities with what lies underneath.

The design of the vehicle is quite boxy and purpose built. There are no Chevy logos on the outside and everything seems to be made to make it bulletproof. GM has used a four pods of auxiliary lighting instead of headlamps and it will be made with either two, four or six seater options depending on the use case and the what the tactical mission requires.

The main talking point of this truck is its drivetrain. All four wheels are powered by electric motors and there is a battery pack whose size is not know. GM has put a 2.8L diesel engine which acts as a diesel generator. This means that the vehicle can go completely silent when on the battlefield and it could prove to be tactically very beneficial. While the size of the battery pack is not know, GM says that it can power all the gear inside the vehicle and also has “tactically significant range with extended mission duration”.

It will have the usual safety systems which is found on the regular truck, things like stability program and a 360-degree camera. The new truck will be able to do silent missions and have increased range with the hybrid system. It can be customized easily depending on the need and is the latest and greatest in the technology department for the American forces.

GM has showcased this vehicle at the Association of the U.S Army’s annual meeting and expo in Washington D.C. and it is the the next generation of tactical vehicles which will be seen on battlefields.
