Goa District Panchayat Elections: 15 percent voting till 10 am, counting of votes will take place on December 22

Grandmother In the first two hours of voting on Saturday for the elections on 50 District Panchayat seats in Goa, about 15 percent voting was recorded till 10 am. The officers provided this information. Long queues of voters were seen outside a total of 1,284 polling stations in the two districts of the state after polling began at 8 am.

According to the State Election Commission, till 10 am about 15 percent voters had exercised their franchise. More than eight lakh voters are eligible to vote in these elections. Counting of votes will take place on December 22. Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Congress, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Goa Forward Party (GFP), Maharashtrawadi Gomantak Party and Revolutionary Goans Party have fielded their candidates. Congress and Goa Forward Party have formed an electoral alliance. A total of 226 candidates are contesting the elections, including 111 from North Goa and 115 from South Goa. Of these, 62 candidates are independent. The ruling BJP is contesting on 40 seats, while AAP and Congress have fielded candidates on 42 and 36 seats respectively. Goa Forward Party is contesting on nine seats.
