Going to Himachal will be expensive, government is going to increase toll tax by Rs 800
Toll tax is going to increase in Himachal Pradesh due to which traveling in the mountains may become expensive in the coming days. The increased toll tax can be implemented from April 1. Regarding the decision to increase toll tax, Himachal Pradesh government said that toll tax is being increased to meet the increasing infrastructure expenditure and increase revenue in the state. This decision has been taken under the Toll Act 1975. However, the state government has increased the tax only for external vehicles. Toll tax has not been increased for state vehicles.
If we talk about increase, then there has been an increase of Rs 100 in toll tax on cars, jeeps, vans and light motor vehicles, where currently these vehicles have to pay Rs 70, whereas in the coming days, entry fee will be Rs 170. Toll tax on passenger vehicles with more than 12 seats has been increased from Rs 60 to Rs 170. As of now, the toll tax for vehicles of this segment is Rs 110. Whereas the toll of 32 seater mini bus will be Rs 320 which is currently only Rs 180. The increasing toll tax will also affect traveler buses. In such a situation, speculations are being made that traveler buses may also increase the fare for their passengers soon.

Tax on large and commercial vehicles
The entry fee for commercial buses has been increased to Rs 600, which is currently Rs 320. This fee for construction machinery vehicles has increased from Rs 570 to Rs 800. However, double
Toll tax of axle buses has not been increased and even after April 1, it will remain Rs 570.
Changes made for National Highway also
The Central Government has also changed the rules for payment of toll tax on National Highways. In this, after April 1, 2026, cash payment will be completely stopped on the national highways across the country. Those who do not have Fastag will be able to make payment through UPI but they will not have the option of cash.

According to the current rule, if people who do not have Fastag pay by cash, they have to pay double the amount.
