Gojek Singapore names former Uber executive Janine Teo as general manager
Ride-hailing platform Gojek Singapore has appointed Janine Teo as its general manager, replacing Lien Choong Luen, who stepped down in February after leading the business for seven years.
Gojek told The Straits Times that Teo has been with the company for more than seven years, holding several operational leadership positions.

“Given her in-depth experience, we are confident that she can take the business forward and continue strengthening Gojek’s platform to support driver-partners and their livelihoods, while delivering reliable services for consumers in Singapore,” the company said.
Teo previously served as country lead of driver experience and operations manager at Uber between 2017 and 2018.
She later became head of supply in Singapore at GoTo Group – the technology group that oversees Gojek – from 2020.
Lien said that during his tenure he witnessed the ride-hailing industry mature during a “really intense” period marked by heightened competition and tighter regulations.
He said one of the biggest challenges the company faced was navigating the Covid-19 pandemic, including supporting drivers while dealing with a sharp drop in demand.
Lien said he plans to take a sabbatical and spend more time on his board roles, including serving as president of Singapore Athletics.
He added that he is also exploring opportunities in the technology sector and catching up on developments across the region.
“After seven years leading Gojek Singapore, with the business in a strong position, this was a good juncture for Lien to transition out of the role as he pursues his personal interests,” Gojek said in a statement.
