‘Golden Line’ Metro will run in Delhi, DMRC starts work on new corridor
Delhi Metro Phase-IV, which is giving a new direction to the pace of Delhi, has now reached another important milestone. The construction work on the new ‘Golden Line-11’ being built from Lajpat Nagar to Saket G-Block by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) was formally started from Friday. This work, which started with test piling and Bhoomi Pujan, is believed to bring a big change in the metro connectivity of the capital. This is the first new segment of Phase-IV after the primary corridors where physical construction has started on the ground. This step is being considered an important achievement towards the continuous expansion of Delhi Metro network.
Historic moment related to test pile and bhumi pujan
Principal Executive Director of Delhi Metro, Anuj Dayal said that the program of first test pile and Bhoomi Pujan of the corridor was organized near Pushpa Bhawan near Saket. On this occasion, DMRC Managing Director Dr. Vikas Kumar along with many senior officials of the organization were also present. Apart from this, the contractor of this project and officials of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) also attended the function.
Elevated ‘Golden Line-11’ will be built with 8 stations
This new metro corridor to be built from Lajpat Nagar to Saket G-Block will be completely elevated and will include a total of 8 stations. These stations include Lajpat Nagar, Andrews Ganj, GK-1, Chirag Delhi, Pushpa Bhawan, Saket District Centre, Pushp Vihar and Saket G-Block. Through these stations, many congested areas of South Delhi will be provided a convenient and fast transportation option for the residents of the capital.
Connectivity will increase in South Delhi
Golden Line-11 will ease transportation in the busy areas of South Delhi. This corridor will provide better metro connectivity to areas like Greater Kailash-1, Saket and Pushp Vihar as well as to nearby reputed schools and government offices. Experts estimate that the operation of this corridor will save time in the daily journey of millions of passengers and will make the journey more easy and convenient.
Lajpat Nagar will become a big interchange hub
This new corridor will connect with the Magenta Line at Chirag Delhi station and the Violet and Pink Line at Lajpat Nagar station. With these connections Lajpat Nagar will emerge as a triple interchange station, providing more travel options and convenient routes to passengers.
Work continues in other corridors of Phase-IV also
Tendering and pre-construction activities are also underway on other corridors of Phase-IV like Indralok-Indraprastha and Rithala-Narela. DMRC aims to provide a more robust and modern metro network to Delhi-NCR in the coming years. Principal Executive Director Anuj Dayal said that Delhi Metro has always given priority to punctuality, safety and modernity. Since its inception, DMRC has made a significant contribution in changing the transportation pattern in the city and this tradition is becoming stronger with the new lines.
