Now on retirement, one will get an honorary post one rank higher, LG VK Saxena has approved it. Saxena has approved giving honorary rank one rank higher to police employees from constable to sub-inspector on the day of their retirement. This will be just a recognition, with no financial or pension benefits. This decision will benefit more than 88,000 employees of Delhi Police. In May 2025, the Home Ministry approved similar honorary ranks for the CAPF and ASSAM Rifles. After this proposal, Delhi Police also presented a similar proposal, and now it has been approved.

There are a total of more than 88,000 employees in Delhi Police and this decision will be applicable to everyone from constables to sub-inspectors. This promotion on retirement will be nominal, but the honor will be huge. Sub-inspectors will become honorary inspectors. ASI will become honorary sub-inspector. Similarly, head constables will receive the title of Honorary ASI. The constable will become honorary head constable. This honorary rank will be given only on the day of retirement, so that the employees can go home proudly with increased morale.

Also, some conditions have been laid down for applying. You must have at least two years of service in your current position. You should have a good APAR (Performance Report) in the last five years. You should not have received any major punishment during your service. Only those who fulfill these conditions will get this respectable status.
