Good news for teachers: UP government guarantees relief

Lucknow. An important relief initiative has emerged for the teachers of non-government aided secondary schools in Uttar Pradesh. For a long time, complaints were being received from various districts regarding termination, suspension and other punitive actions of teachers. In many cases, there were allegations that the management system ignored the rules and put undue pressure on teachers or threw them out of service.

In view of these circumstances, the government has made it clear that service security of teachers is of paramount importance and for this, strict adherence to the already existing legal provisions is mandatory. The government has directed all District Inspectors of Schools (DIOS) to ensure that no punitive action is taken against any teacher without prior permission under Section 16 (g), Sub-section 3 (a) of the concerned Act.

What is the new message?

The Government has made it clear that—

Prior approval of DIOS will be mandatory before removing, terminating service or imposing harsh punishment on any teacher.

If action is taken without permission, accountability of the concerned officers can be fixed.

The complaints of teachers will be taken seriously and necessary steps will be taken after investigation.

This decision indicates that now the arbitrariness of the management system will be curbed and teachers will be assured of service security.

Why was this step necessary?

Secondary teacher organizations claim that hundreds of teachers in various schools were removed from service under controversial circumstances. This issue was also raised in the Legislative Assembly, where public representatives demanded protection of the interests of teachers. Taking cognizance of this entire issue, the government has issued clear guidelines.

Impact on education system

This initiative is not only important in the interest of teachers but also for the stability of the education system. Only when teachers work in a safe and respectful environment will they be able to provide better education to students. Service security will boost the morale of teachers and have a positive impact on the quality of education in schools.
