Good news for women in Bihar, government gave a big gift
Patna. The state government has implemented a comprehensive scheme with the aim of making women economically stronger in Bihar. This initiative, run through Jeevika, is giving millions of women the opportunity to start small businesses and gradually take them to larger levels. The aim is to make about 1 crore 81 lakh women self-reliant by providing them financial support in a phased manner.
Initial capital received in the first phase
At the beginning of the scheme, eligible women were given assistance of Rs 10,000 each. This amount was used to set up small businesses in rural areas. Many women opened grocery shops, some started goat rearing, and some made traditional skills like sewing and weaving a source of income. Due to these small efforts, economic activities have increased in the villages and the income of the families is also improving.
Next installment will be given after investigation
The government wants to ensure that the amount given is actually used for employment generation. For this purpose, review of beneficiaries has been started. Women who have started business will be given help for the next phase. Whereas, those who have not started any work yet will be motivated and guided first. The purpose of this process is not to deprive anyone, but to make the scheme effective so that the assistance reaches the right hands.
phased investment model
This scheme is based on the strategy of investing in stages rather than giving a large amount directly.
In the second phase, assistance of Rs 20 thousand will be provided, in which the beneficiary will have to invest Rs 5 thousand himself.
In the third phase, a personal contribution of Rs 10 thousand will be required along with a financial assistance of Rs 40 thousand.
In the fourth phase, assistance of Rs 80 thousand will be given, in which own investment of Rs 20 thousand is mandatory.
This ‘matching grant’ system motivates women to grow their businesses responsibly.
Branding and market access
When a woman stabilizes her business, then arrangements are made to connect her to the big market. For this, separate assistance of up to Rs 60 thousand is given for branding, packaging and marketing. The objective is to ensure that rural products get recognition at the state and national level. Women performing exceptionally can also be given special assistance up to a maximum of Rs 2 lakh on the recommendation of the state level committee.
Step towards self-reliant Bihar
This initiative is not limited to just financial help, but is based on the idea of making women entrepreneurs. If the scheme is successful, it can play an important role in giving new impetus to the rural economy as well as empowering women socially and economically.
