According to a report, the job will be for two years with the option of extension. General Managers of all Railway Zones can recruit retirees on the basis of their medical fitness and work rating in the last five years.

According to the report, Railway Board has started a recruitment campaign for 25,000 posts to meet the shortage of employees. Further, they have launched a scheme to temporarily fill the vacancies by re-appointment of retired railway employees.

Good rating is necessary 5 years before retirement

To apply for this, applicants must have a good rating in the confidential report of the last five years before retirement. Apart from this, there should not be any vigilance or disciplinary case pending against him.

Under this, those recruited will be paid by deducting their basic pension amount from their final salary. Apart from this, they will also be given traveling allowance. However, they will not get additional benefits or salary increases.

According to the report, the Railway Board has taken this decision in view of the increasing train accidents and shortage of staff.
