The excitement of the fans about the Indian Premier League 2026 is continuously increasing and meanwhile, a big news has come for the cricket fans of Karnataka and the fans of Virat Kohli. Last year, Royal Challengers Bangalore had won the IPL title but this year many questions were being raised regarding their home ground. Now it has been decided that RCB will play five matches at its home ground at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, the capital of Karnataka. Where earlier it seemed difficult to have even a single match, now 5 matches will be held in the same ground and the fans are very happy with this decision, but 2 matches on the home ground will not be held in Bengaluru due to which some fans are also angry.

 

The Karnataka government has given permission to Karnataka Cricket Association to hold matches at M Chinnaswamy Stadium. After the stampede last year, it was believed that IPL matches would not be held in this stadium this year but now the government has given permission for it. Karnataka State Cricket Association Secretary Santosh Menon said that RCB management has also agreed to play the match at this ground.

The echo of RCB will be heard again in Chinnaswamy

Santosh Menon said that the RCB team has agreed to play five matches in Bengaluru and the playoffs will also be played in Bengaluru. He said, ‘The biggest news is that the IPL final will also be played in Bengaluru.’ He said that BCCI has promised us this and now we are waiting for the announcement from BCCI and RCB. He said that he hopes that BCCI will release the schedule soon. Santosh Menon said, ‘All I want to say right now is that the roar of RCB will echo once again in the Chinnaswamy Stadium.’

Home matches will also be held in Raipur

In a tournament, each team plays a total of 7 matches on its own ground. RCB team will play five matches in Bengaluru as its home ground and the remaining two matches will be played in Raipur, the capital of Chhattisgarh. RCB will play two matches at Shaheer Veer Narayan Singh International Cricket Stadium in Raipur.

What did RCB say?

RCB welcomed the decision to hold the match in Bengaluru. RCB said in a statement, ‘RCB wholeheartedly thanks the Karnataka Government, Karnataka State Cricket Association and Karnataka Police. He provided complete guidance, cooperation and support in organizing the matches in Bengaluru and worked to improve the infrastructure and security arrangements in time before the start of the IPL season. RCB thanked the government for its efforts and said that due to these efforts, the defending champion team will be able to play most of its home matches on its home ground.

The first match will be held in Bengaluru only

According to reports, the defending champion will play the first IPL match of this year. The opening ceremony of IPL 2026 will be held at the same M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. According to the rules, only the last year’s champion plays the first match and the first match is held at the team’s home ground only. This year both the opening ceremony and the final match will be held in Bengaluru.

 

Last year, this stadium came into controversy when after RCB’s victory in the final, people gathered in this stadium to celebrate and a stampede broke out. 11 people were killed and many were injured in this stampede.
