Good news: Panchayats of Bihar get huge funds, new wave of development
Patna. The Central Government has released a huge grant for the three-tier Panchayati Raj institutions of Bihar in the financial year 2025-26. A total of Rs 4,383.98 crore has been given to panchayats in the state as tied and untied grants under the 15th Finance Commission (XV-FC).
Second installment of TIDE grant released
In this amount, Rs 1,203.60 crore has also been released as the second installment of TIDE grant. Apart from this, Rs 2.09 crore from the share withheld in the first installment was also made available to three Block Panchayats and seven Gram Panchayats, which have now become eligible.
Demand for allocation of funds from the center
For this grant, Bihar Panchayati Raj Minister Deepak Prakash had met Union Panchayati Raj Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh in January. The minister had requested for allocation of the amount recommended by the 15th Finance Commission along with Rs 803.79 crore for other items, Rs 2,622.65 crore for the health sector and annual financial assistance for operation and maintenance of panchayat buildings.
Promotion of development works at Panchayat level
The funds received from the Center will help in e-governance at the Panchayat level, computer labs of District Panchayat Resource Centres, and strengthening of IT based services. Additionally, the fund will assist Gram Panchayats, Panchayat Samitis and Zilla Parishads in strengthening basic services like sanitation, protection of ODF status and safe drinking water.
This grant will accelerate the local development of Bihar
With the grant, development works can be implemented rapidly as per local needs. This will help the Panchayats to implement public welfare schemes effectively and start a new chapter of development in the villages.
