The state government has restarted the online application process for new ration card. Now eligible families can apply through mobile or computer sitting at home. This will reduce the need to visit government offices and the benefits of the food security scheme will reach more and more needy people.
What is the purpose of government?
The state government aims to provide ration cards to all eligible families covered under the National Food Security Act (NFSA). There are many families who, despite being financially weak, were not able to avail the benefits of the scheme till now. With the resumption of the online portal, such families have got a new opportunity to apply.
Who can apply?
Only those families who fulfill the eligibility conditions prescribed by the government can make a new ration card. The application will be made in the name of the female head of the family. If the family is not already included in any other ration card and all the required documents are available, then the application can be made.
Documents required for application
Keep the following documents ready before applying online. Aadhar card of all the family members, residence certificate of Bihar, income certificate, caste certificate if required, passbook of the bank account of the female head, joint photo of the family, disability certificate if there is a disabled member. All documents must be uploaded clearly in PDF or JPEG format.
How to apply online sitting at home
The online application process has been kept quite easy. First of all, go to the online portal of the Food and Consumer Protection Department and do a new registration. After this login through mobile number and select “New Ration Card” application option. All information should be entered as per Aadhaar card only. Finally upload the required documents, check the complete application details and submit the form. Keep the receipt or acknowledgment number that you receive after successful application safe for future use.
How to add new name in ration card?
If the name of any member has been removed from the ration card or the name of a new member in the family like a newborn baby or a new member has to be added after marriage, then this can also be applied for. However, before adding names, it is necessary to complete e-KYC of all the members registered in the ration card. The names of beneficiaries whose e-KYC has not been done may be removed from the beneficiary list. Therefore, before adding new applications or names, it is necessary for all members to complete e-KYC.
