Good news to the farmers of Bihar! Start fish farming, government will provide assistance up to Rs 4.40 lakh
News Desk. Bihar government is continuously implementing new schemes to increase the income of farmers and make them self-reliant. In this context, a special initiative has now been taken to promote fish farming, under which farmers are being given financial assistance worth lakhs of rupees. The special thing is that this scheme has been prepared keeping in mind the people of Scheduled Castes, Tribes and Backward Classes of the society.
What is this plan?
The objective of “Mukhyamantri Talab Matsya Vikas Yojana” run by the Animal and Fisheries Department of the State Government is to encourage farmers to do fish farming by building ponds on their land. This will not only increase their income but will also create new employment opportunities at the village level.
Where did the work start?
This scheme is being implemented rapidly in Lakhisarai district. For the financial year 2025-26, a target has been set to provide the benefits of the scheme to 11 farmers. The work of construction of pond has started on the land of selected beneficiaries. According to officials at the district level, work on many projects is going on at a fast pace and is also being monitored from time to time, so that the benefits of the scheme reach the right people.
How much financial help will you get?
Under this scheme, farmers will have to work on a total project worth about Rs 5.72 lakh. In this, up to 70% grant will be given by the government, which comes to approximately Rs 4.40 lakh.
Complete details of expenditure:
Pond construction: ₹2.28 lakh
Boring and pump set: ₹1.20 lakh
Aerator Machine: ₹50 thousand
Pond bank shed: ₹1 lakh
Inputs to fish farming (fodder, medicine etc.): ₹64 thousand
Other expenses: ₹10 thousand
After completion of the scheme, the subsidy amount will be given directly to the farmer.
