Google added a new feature called 'Scam Detection System' in its Pixel series phones.
Keeping in mind its consumers, Google has added a new feature called 'Scam Detection System' in its Pixel 6, 7 and 9 series phones. This new feature will be present in the phone app itself and will identify scam calls in real-time and alert users.
With the help of Google's advanced AI and machine learning technology, this feature will do real-time analysis of incoming calls. Taking into account several factors such as caller ID, phone number pattern and the nature of the call, this feature will identify and flag scam calls.
If a call is detected as a scam, the user will receive an alert on their phone. With this, users will be able to take the right decision and will also be able to avoid scams. Google has said that this scam detection feature will be off by default and users can turn it on or off as per their wish.
Users can also turn off this feature anytime by going to the settings of the phone app. It can even be turned off during a specific call. Google has also clarified that the AI detection model and its processing takes place entirely on the phone. The audio or transcription of the conversation is not saved on the phone, nor sent to Google servers or anywhere else, nor can it be retrieved after the call.
Scam detection in Pixel 9 devices is provided by Gemini Nano. For Pixel 6, 7, and 8a users, this feature is based on another advanced Google on-device machine learning model.
