Sundar Pichai himself said that 10% of the employees in managerial positions will be laid off. These include people holding big positions like director and vice president. The company has taken this step with the aim of reducing the number of its employees.

According to the report, Sundar Pichai said that Google has made many major changes in the last few years. In such a situation, now the company will eliminate some posts. These posts include Manager, Director and Vice President. According to Google, some positions have been changed to Individual Contributor. Some posts have been removed completely. Google has taken many big steps in the last two years. So that the company can become more effective. Earlier in January 2022, Google had cut 12,000 jobs.

Google has once again taken the step of layoffs. This is because Google's AI competitor OpenAI has launched new products. This is affecting Google's search business. In view of OpenAI, Google has included Generative AI feature in its main product. The company has also launched some new AI products. It also includes a new AI video generator and new Gemini models.
There were layoffs in May 2024 also
Even in May 2024, Google fired 200 people from its core team. This was done to reduce the company's costs. At the same time, the jobs of some employees were transferred to other countries. About 50 employees have been laid off from Google's engineering team in California. The core team provides the technical foundation for the company's key products, as well as oversees online user security and global IT infrastructure.
