Gemini AI Assistant launched in Google Chrome
Google has launched a new AI assistant, Gemini, in its popular browser Google Chrome. Through this feature, users will not need to open different tabs to find information or understand the content. India is among those countries where this facility was made available first.
Support for multiple Indian languages
Gemini is designed in such a way that maximum number of people can avail it in their own mother tongue. It is available in over 50 languages including Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Telugu and Tamil. This will enable internet users from different regions to communicate with AI in their preferred linguistic option.
AI’s place within the browser
This AI assistant will be found inside Chrome itself, so users will not need to go to any other website or app. Gemini can also connect to other Google services like Gmail, Google Maps, Google Calendar and YouTube for quick access to information like email, location, video or schedule. Additionally, the facility to create images has also been added to it.
How to use Gemini
A sparkle-like icon will appear on the right side of Chrome. Clicking on it will open a sidebar where users can chat with Gemini, ask questions or create images. If a user does not want this icon on the screen, it can be easily removed by unpinning it.
expansion plan
Google first introduced Gemini in Chrome in the US in 2025. Now it is being made available in India as well as in countries like Canada and New Zealand. The company plans to introduce it in more countries by the end of 2026.
