Gorakhpur: 4 arrested for religious conversion, police launched intensive campaign

GorakhpuTaking major action, the police have arrested three accused and one accused on charges of attempting to convert in Gulriha police station area of Raj district. This action was taken under the crime control campaign being run on the instructions of the Senior Superintendent of Police.
Under the guidance of City Superintendent of Police and supervision of Area Officer Gorakhnath, the team of Police Station Head Gulriha showed activeness and exposed this case. According to the police, the arrested accused are accused of trying to convert people by misleading them.
The arrested accused include Amit Singh, son of late Jitendra Singh, who was originally a resident of Parvarpar village of Ramkola police station area of Kushinagar district and was currently living in Turhabari of Gorakhnath police station area. Apart from this, Vicky Kumar son of Mahendra Nishad resident of Sarhari police station Gulriha, Kanhaiya Yadav son of Durga Lal Yadav resident of Ward No. 6 PPganj police station PPganj and Rita Devi wife Jitendra Singh have also been arrested. Rita Devi is also a resident of Kushinagar and was currently residing in Gorakhnath area.
Police said that a case has been registered against all these accused in Gulriha police station. Case has been registered under section 3/5 of Uttar Pradesh Prohibition of Religious Conversion Act under case crime number 231/26.
After the arrest, all the accused are being interrogated and the case is being investigated in depth. The police is trying to find out who else could be involved in this incident and whether any organized gang is active behind it.
Police officials have clarified that any kind of illegal conversion or activities of misleading people will not be tolerated in the district. Strict action will continue in such cases.
After this action, there is an atmosphere of discussion in the area, while the confidence among the local people regarding the activeness of the police has also increased.
