Gorakhpur Crime: Police Constable Accused of Minor Girl's Murder Injured in Encounter

Gorakhpur: In a sensational case of the kidnapping and murder of a minor girl, the prime suspect, UP-112 constable Abhishek Yadav was shot in the leg in an encounter.

According to the police, the accused was being taken to recover evidence related to the incident and the victim’s body. During this process, he attacked the police team and attempted to escape, prompting the police to open fire in self-defense. He was shot in the leg and arrested while injured.

Police officials claimed that the accused attempted to escape during the operation and allegedly attacked the police team. In response, officers fired in self-defense, resulting in a bullet injury to Yadav's leg.

Following the incident, the accused was taken into custody and admitted to a hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment under police supervision.

Accused Taken for Evidence Recovery

According to the officials, Abhishek Yadav was taken to locations connected with the crime after questioning, as police were attempting to recover crucial evidence and gather further details about the incident.

During the recovery operation, police alleged that the accused pushed personnel and tried to flee. Officials said the situation posed a threat to the safety of the team, following which police took action.

CCTV footage helped police identify accused

Police said the investigation began with an examination of CCTV footage from the area. The footage allegedly showed the accused taking the minor girl with him, helping investigators trace his involvement.

Based on the evidence, CCTV inputs and interrogation, police identified Yadav as the main accused in the case. The Senior Superintendent of Police had earlier shared details regarding the investigation into the kidnapping and murder.

Accused Had Earlier Faced Suspension

During the probe, police officials also revealed that Abhishek Yadav had previously been suspended in connection with a criminal case. He was later reinstated and posted with UP-112.

The development has sparked questions over internal monitoring and verification procedures within the police department.

Investigation Underway

Police officials said the investigation remains ongoing, with teams analyzing forensic evidence, electronic records and information gathered during questioning to establish the full sequence of events.

Authorities have stated that every aspect of the case will be examined thoroughly and that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found responsible.
