Gorakhpur RRB again in controversy, new case amid recruitment investigation
Gorakhpur Railway Recruitment Board is once again in controversy. New allegations and counter-allegations have come to light regarding the joining of the Nursing Superintendent, while the investigation into the already ongoing recruitment fraud and corruption cases is still going on.
Gorakhpur: The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) office located in Gorakhpur is once again in the news. A dispute has come to light between the Chairman of the Board and a former military officer regarding the appointment to the post of Nursing Superintendent. The matter has emerged at a time when the office is already facing a probe into alleged irregularities in the assistant loco pilot and other recruitment processes.
Controversy increases regarding joining of Nursing Superintendent
A new controversy has arisen regarding joining the post of Nursing Superintendent in Gorakhpur Railway Recruitment Board office. Former Army officer Major Neha Singh has accused the Railway Recruitment Board Chairman of misconduct and harassment. He has sent a complaint to the General Manager and other senior officials of North Eastern Railway, demanding an impartial investigation into the matter.
On the other hand, the Chairman of Railway Recruitment Board has also written a letter to the concerned officials rejecting the allegations. He has accused the complainant of creating unnecessary pressure and causing disruption in the functioning of the office. The matter has become a topic of discussion in the railway department after both the parties made complaints at the highest level. Now only after investigation it will be clear what are the real reasons behind the delay in the appointment process.
Railway Recruitment Board has been in controversies for years
The name of Gorakhpur Railway Recruitment Board has been in the news for the last several years for alleged irregularities in the recruitment processes. Allegations of large-scale fraud were revealed during the Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) recruitment process in the year 2018-19. It was alleged that there were irregularities at stages like examination, panel preparation, medical examination and document verification.
After the matter came to light, the Railway Board took action and removed the then chairman from the post. After this, action was also taken against many officers and employees. This entire episode is being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and the investigation is still going on.
The issue of fake appointments had increased concern
Even in the year 2024, Railway Recruitment Board office came into limelight in a new fraud case. The allegation was that some employees allegedly influenced the recruitment process and got the names of their family members included in the selection list. After the matter came to light, the railway administration started investigation and action was taken against the concerned employees.
Many employees were transferred during the investigation, while some were sent back to their parent departments. Police and other agencies also took action in related matters. Despite this, questions continue to be raised regarding the functioning of the Recruitment Board.
Railway Recruitment Board conducts the recruitment process of a large number of youth across the country. In such a situation, recurring controversies and allegations of irregularities are raising questions on the transparency of the recruitment system. Both the railway officials and the candidates are now keeping an eye on the outcome of the current controversy and pending investigations.
