Indian Government’s statement amid the Middle East crisis – Adequate reserves of petrol, diesel and fertilizers exist in the country.
Middle East Conflict Impact On India: In view of the increasing tension between Iran and Israel in West Asia, the Indian government has given great relief to the countrymen. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has clarified that there will be no shortage of fuel and fertilizer in the country. The government has taken several stringent measures to ensure supplies so that the general public is not affected by international instability. In the joint press conference of the Home and External Affairs Ministries, officials have presented a detailed description of the current situation.
adequate fuel reserves
Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary, Petroleum Ministry, said on Monday that the availability of petrol and diesel in the country is completely sufficient. He appealed to the citizens not to indulge in panic buying as retail outlets were functioning normally. The Government of India is monitoring the supply chain at various levels so that there is no fuel shortage in any area.
try cheaper rates
To control prices in the domestic market, the government has reduced excise duty on petrol and diesel by Rs 10 per liter. Along with this, export duty i.e. export levy has also been imposed to maintain continuous availability of diesel within the country. The main objective of these measures is to protect Indian consumers from fluctuations in international crude oil prices.
LPG and Gas Supply
In case of natural gas, 100% supply is being ensured for domestic consumers and CNG transportation, which is a big relief. On Sunday itself, a total of 1 crore 4 lakh cylinders were booked across the country, out of which 92 lakh cylinders were delivered. Even in the states which had been declared kerosene free, a gazette notification has been issued to provide kerosene as and when required.
Maritime Safety and Ships
According to the Ministry of Ports and Shipping, currently 18 Indian ships are operating safely in the Persian Gulf. In the last 24 hours, two large LPG carrier ships have crossed the Strait of Hormuz and are headed towards India carrying a total of 94,000 metric tonnes of gas. The Government is taking all possible safeguards to ensure uninterrupted maritime operations and energy supply in international waters.
fertilizer stock
The Fertilizer Ministry has informed that despite the increase in global prices, India currently has a stock of 180 lakh metric tonnes of fertilizer. At the same time last year, this stock was 147 lakh metric tonnes, which clearly shows the better situation and preparation this time. The government will focus on further strengthening this stock during May-June when the demand for fertilizer is low.

safe return of Indians
The Ministry of External Affairs said that since February 28, about 5.50 lakh Indian citizens have been brought back from various countries in the Middle East. However, the tragic death of an Indian national has been confirmed in the attack on a power station in Kuwait. The government is constantly in touch with the embassies and authorities of the countries concerned for the safety of other Indians stranded there.
