Government Employees Strike: 17 lakh government employees in Maharashtra are on strike from April 21

Government Employees Strike | As many as 17 lakh employees of the state are preparing to go on an indefinite strike from next Tuesday, i.e. from April 21. Not only the ministry employees but also the employees of schools, colleges and hospitals will participate in this strike. Hence, the strike could have a major impact on essential services like education and health. As revenue, registration and other government offices will come to a complete standstill, the general public is likely to be hit hard by the 21st strike.

For the last several days, government employees (Government Employees Strike) have been following up with the government for their various demands. These demands include lifting of ban on recruitment of Class IV and drivers, regularization of contract workers and implementation of cashless health insurance scheme for all employees. Promulgation of clear rules regarding Revised National Pension Scheme, provision of provisional pension to employees retiring from 1st March 2024, and benefits under In-Service Assured Progression Scheme (10:20:30). Demands include raising the retirement age to 60 years.

However, despite repeated discussions, the government has not taken any concrete or satisfactory decision. Enraged by the government’s delay, the employee unions have now called a strike (Government Employees Strike). Accordingly, April 21 has been fixed as the date for the agitation. . It has been warned that if the government does not respond positively, this movement will be intensified. What role does the government take due to this decision?
