Government gave update on Petrol-Diesel and LPG, appealed to the people by assuring them

Amidst the increasing tension between America and Iran and reports of possible obstacles in the Strait of Hormuz, the Central Government has once again appealed to the citizens not to make panic purchases of petrol, diesel and LPG. The government has clarified that the fuel supply in the country remains completely normal and sufficient. Therefore there is no need for any kind of panic buying.

What did the government say in the statement?

In the statement issued by the government, it has been assured that the availability of petroleum products to domestic cooking gas continues without any interruption. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said that the situation is being continuously monitored and necessary steps are being taken to maintain the supply. People have been appealed to trust only official information and avoid rumours. Besides, emphasis has also been laid on energy saving.

The ministry also informed that priority is being given to supply of LPG and piped natural gas for domestic use. Especially for homes, hospitals and other essential services, uninterrupted availability of gas is being ensured. In view of the increasing demand, production in the refineries has been increased and the distribution system has been strengthened. The time between refilling of LPG cylinders has also been increased so that the gas can reach more and more consumers.

Strict stance on hoarding and black marketing

The government has adopted a strict stance against hoarding and black marketing. So far, more than 3,700 raids have been conducted and show cause notices have been issued to about 1,000 LPG distributors. 27 dealers have also been suspended in cases of violation of rules.

According to the data, there is definitely pressure on supply due to international conditions, but there is no information of shortage at any gas station in the country. Recently, about 51 lakh LPG cylinders were distributed in a day, out of which 95 percent booking was done through online medium.

The government also said that all refineries are operating with adequate crude oil reserves and fuel is available at petrol pumps across the country. Besides, alternative fuels are also being used to balance the situation.
