Cyber Crime Prevention 2026: The government has launched a digital strike in view of the increase in cyber crime cases. Under this, the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C) prevents fraud and fraud by immediately connecting citizens’ complaints with the concerned police and banking institutions. This step, along with technological initiatives like SIM card blocking and SIM binding, has been taken to strengthen national security and financial security.
Main actions and role of I4C
Amid increasing cases of cyber crime, the government has prepared for digital strike. Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C) immediately stops frauds by connecting citizens’ complaints directly to the concerned police and banking institutions. By January 2026, this system prevented cyber fraud worth more than Rs 8,000 crore. Under the SOP, police and agencies of all the states together take real-time action.
I4C was launched in 2018 and since then it has been helping prevent cyber crimes by bringing together agencies across the country on one platform. Through this, quick prevention of fraud and fraud cases is possible by coordinating with banks and financial institutions.
SIM card and mobile blocking
The government has blocked 12 lakh SIM cards used in cyber fraud. Apart from this, about 3 lakh mobiles were also blocked. This step helps in breaking the network of cyber criminals and preventing online fraud.
Along with SIM blocking, preparations are also being made to implement SIM binding. SIM binding will be mandatory on messaging apps like WhatsApp, so that crimes committed through mobile and digital medium can be controlled.
Technical solutions for cyber security
The government has not only taken legal and administrative steps on cyber crime, but has also intensified efforts to stop crime using technology. Cyber criminals can be caught quickly through fraud reporting system and real-time tracking through I4C.
Experts believe that digital strike will reduce the cases of cyber fraud rapidly. Also this step is important for both national security and financial security.
