Government warns mobile users not to dial this number even by mistake

New Delhi: In this era of digital age, cyber crimes are increasing rapidly. Scammers are adopting new strategies to make people victims of fraud. In view of these increasing crimes, the government and telecom companies are continuously taking steps. Meanwhile, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has issued an important warning for 120 crore mobile users.

fake year numbers

The Department of Telecommunications has cautioned mobile users to be cautious before answering or receiving calls from unknown international numbers. In particular, calls that come from international codes other than +91, such as +77, +85, +86, +87, +89, and +84, may be fraudulent.

90% spam calls identified

The government launched an international incoming fake call prevention system on 22 October. Under this system, 90% of over 1.35 crore suspicious calls were marked as spam within 24 hours. However, after this the scammers changed their strategy and started using international numbers for fraud. Let us tell you that DoT has said that some calls are trying to deceive mobile users by pretending to be from a government department. The department has clarified that TRAI or the Department of Telecommunications never makes such calls.

Where to complain about fake calls

If any user receives a fake international call, he can lodge a complaint on the Chakshu portal. The department also said that scammers are committing fraud through internet-generated calls. This is not the first time DoT has issued such a warning. Recently, an appeal was made on the social media platform X to be cautious about calls coming from international numbers like +77, +89, +85.
