Government's big action on online fraud!, Strict instructions to Airtel, Jio, Vi, see here…

New Delhi. TRAI has asked all telecom companies to block URLs, OTT links and APKs sent in SMS. This change will start from October 1. This means that if someone sends you a link through SMS, that link will not be opened if that link is not in the whitelist. This will save people from fraudulent links.

TRAI had asked all telecom companies on August 20 to block URLs, OTT links and APKs sent in SMS. For this, companies will have to put their links in the whitelist. More than 3,000 companies have whitelisted more than 70,000 links. If a company does not put its link in the whitelist by October 1, then it will not be able to send the link in SMS.

Decision taken to protect from online fraud
TRAI has taken this step so that people can be protected from fraudulent SMS. TRAI has said that if any company sends any link in SMS without permission, it will be blocked. This will protect people from wrong information or unwanted messages.

Trust will increase on SMS
TRAI has asked all the companies to put their links in the whitelist, so that there is no problem in sending their SMS. This will make people trust SMS more, especially on banks and e-commerce companies.
