Government’s big decision for 8th Pay Commission

A very good news has come out for lakhs of government employees of Rajasthan. The state government has taken its first major step towards implementing the 8th Pay Commission. Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma has announced the formation of a ‘high level committee’ to consider the pay scale, new pay matrix and fitment factor of the state employees. There is an atmosphere of enthusiasm among the employees after this announcement.

What work will this special committee do?

The Chief Minister clarified in a program organized at his residence that this new committee will work as a ‘financial think-tank’. Its main work will be to study in depth the recommendations of the 8th Pay Commission of the Central Government. This committee will not only prepare a better salary structure for the state employees, but will also fully assess the additional burden on the government exchequer due to the implementation of the 8th pay scale.

The objective of the committee is to completely eliminate pay related discrepancies. For this, this committee will prepare a new ‘pay matrix’ according to different posts and grades. On the basis of the report of this committee, the government will take the final decision regarding the fitment factor and new pay scale.

Preparation in Rajasthan on the lines of Centre.

Let us tell you that the Central Government has already constituted the 8th Pay Commission under the chairmanship of Justice Ranjana Prakash Desai. Pankaj Jain is the member-secretary and Professor Pulak Ghosh is the member in this commission. The Central Government has given this commission 18 months time to submit its report. This initiative of the Rajasthan government is being seen as a big step in this direction, so that as soon as the recommendations of the Center come, the employees of the state can also get its benefits without any delay. This process is being considered very important to improve the living standards of lakhs of employees of the state and to provide them salary facilities at par with the Centre.
