Govinda out of Bhagam Part 2, Paresh Rawal made a big revelation

Famous actor Paresh Rawal has confirmed the news that Govinda will not return in the 2006 comedy hit film **Bhagam Bhag 2** directed by Priyadarshan. In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Hungama (Published February 10, 2026), Rawal revealed that **Manoj Bajpayee** has replaced him, and Akshay Kumar will be in the lead role. He described the new pairing as “different and unique”, adding, “It will make a different and unique combination.” When asked about Govinda’s departure, Rawal said, “I really have no idea. However, we will miss Govinda.”

Rawal also revealed that he will be playing a **double role** in the film, and excitedly said: “It will be fun. It will be a blast!” Directed by Raaj Shaandilyaa (known for comedies like Dream Girl), the sequel features a new story based on mistaken identity, comedy of errors and escalating chaos—which centers on the original theater group caught up in a crime abroad.

**Meenakshi Choudhary** will be joining as the female lead, which marks her return to Hindi theater (after Upstarts on Netflix in 2019), reportedly alongside Akshay Kumar. Production is scheduled to begin soon in Mumbai, and the film is expected to release in 2027.

The original **Bhagam Bhaag** (2006) was a ground-breaking comedy starring Akshay Kumar, Govinda and Paresh Rawal, which also featured Lara Dutta, Jackie Shroff and other actors. It was a box-office success, known for its slapstick humor and group chemistry.

Govinda’s absence has drawn mixed reactions from fans—some are disappointed to lose the famous trio, while others are excited by Bajpayee’s entry into mainstream comedy. Govinda, who was last seen in the 2019 flop Rangeela Raja (in which he played a double role), has been staying away from big projects due to personal and professional challenges.

Rawal and Akshay Kumar will also come together in upcoming films like Bhoot Bangla and Hera Pheri sequels. The makers or the actor have not given any official reason for Govinda’s exit.
