After the Computer Emergency Response Team of India (CERT-In) issued a public notice urging users to update their devices and asked anyone who received the alert or needed technical assistance to contact the agency at submitmobile@cert-in.org.in. CERT-In’s advisory issued on December 5 states that users who have received such information and want to audit their Apple devices or require technical assistance should contact CERT-In via email.

Earlier, on December 2 and 3, Google and By Apple Threat alerts were sent to users around the world. The agency also urged users to be cautious and avoid using outdated software. Apple and Google sent alerts to all users whose phones were targeted by a powerful spyware. These companies have alerted users who may be targets of state-sponsored spyware. Cybersecurity experts say the government’s move shows the seriousness of this potential cyber attack and its potential for abuse.

Users should install iOS update (26.1).

Update messaging and cloud applications.

Enable Lockdown Mode.

Beware of suspicious notifications.

This isn’t the first time Apple’s threat notifications have led to official action. In 2023, MeitY demanded an explanation from Apple after several opposition politicians and journalists reported receiving similar warnings.
