On September 18, District Supply Officer Ranjita Toppo and In-charge Block Supply Officer Rina Kujur conducted a joint inspection of the Jharkhand State Food Corporation warehouse. During this, the food grains stored there were also verified. During this, 167 quintals of grains were found scattered and rotten on the floor. Which was filled in about 300 sacks. During the investigation, the wheat scattered on the floor of the warehouse was filled in 33 sacks. When weighed, it was 16.69 quintals. Rice was also filled in 277 sacks, whose total weight is 141.08 quintals. Apart from this, sacks of gram, salt and sugar were also checked.

During the surprise inspection, the District Supply Officer found that there was no updated record of all the food grains allotted to this warehouse under various schemes from February 2019 to October 2024. He said that yesterday 14699.35 quintals of food grains including rice and wheat were not found. Irregularities were also found in sugar, salt and pulses.

It is being told that the District Supply Officer has sought clarification from Assistant Warehouse Manager in-charge Sanjeev Karmali dozens of times. Dozens of letters have been written to him in the year 2024 itself. Sanjeev Karmali was repeatedly asked to provide the register related to the warehouse, provide monthly reports, improve the working system, provide annual reports related to the warehouse and clarification. But neither the reply was submitted by him to any letter nor was it complied with. The District Supply Officer has taken strict action in this matter. He has asked Assistant Warehouse Manager in-charge Sanjeev Karmali to respond to the clarification within 24 hours. He has said that from the year 2019 till now, appear and reply with the incoming, outgoing and stock register. Otherwise it will be considered that you accept the fault and by filing a auction letter suit against you, the action of suspension will be started by registering a primary and constituting Form A on the charges of black marketing of food grains, hiding government documents etc. under the Essential Commodities Act 1955.
