Grand inauguration of Regional Saras Mahotsav in Prayagraj

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya participated in the inaugural program and cultural evening of the Regional Saras Mahotsav organized in Sangam city. During this, while addressing the women of self-help groups, he said that under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Uttar Pradesh government is continuously working to take women empowerment to new heights.

He said that the state government is moving ahead with the target of connecting three crore women with self-help groups and preparing one crore “Lakhpati Didi” in the coming one year. This initiative will provide an opportunity to women in rural and urban areas to become economically self-reliant. He said that events like Saras Mahotsav provide market to the products prepared by women and increase their income.

During the programme, the Deputy Chief Minister also inspected the stalls set up by various self-help groups and appreciated the products prepared by the women. He said that the administration and public representatives are working together to extend the benefits of government schemes to women.

On this occasion, Gorakhpur MP and actor Ravi Kishan, Phulpur MP Praveen Patel, Prayagraj Mayor Ganesh Kesarwani, District Panchayat President VK Singh, Legislative Council members KP Srivastava and Surendra Chaudhary were also present. Apart from this, a large number of public representatives and distinguished citizens including MLAs Deepak Patel and Piyush Ranjan Nishad, BJP Metropolitan President Sanjay Gupta, BJP District President Rajesh Shukla and Nirmala Paswan were present in the program.

Cultural presentations in the program also enthralled the people. Eminent poet and singer Anamika Jain Ambar and renowned singer Trupti Shakya enthralled the audience with their songs and performances. In Saras Mahotsav, stalls of handicrafts, food items, apparel and household products prepared by self-help groups from different districts have been set up. This festival is not only providing a platform to rural products but is also giving a new identity to the entrepreneurship and self-reliance of women. A large number of local people, women of self-help groups and administrative officials were present in the program.
