Great news for cattle farmers! First animal blood bank will start in Bihar

Patna. An important initiative is being taken towards modernizing veterinary services in Bihar. The construction of a state-of-the-art Clinical Complex is going on at a fast pace in the Bihar Veterinary College campus of Bihar Animal Sciences University (BASU). The most special thing about this new center will be that the first animal blood bank of the state will be developed here, so that blood can be provided on time to seriously ill or injured animals.

Many times there is an urgent need for blood in the treatment of animals, but due to non-availability of blood on time, the treatment gets affected. After the opening of the proposed blood bank, animals can be given safe blood transfusion whenever needed, which will increase the chances of success of treatment and the lives of many animals can be saved.

Will be equipped with modern facilities

Many state-of-the-art facilities will be provided for the treatment of animals in the under-construction clinical complex. These will have separate ICUs for large and small animals, advanced surgery units, ultrasonography, endoscopy and laparoscopy, ECG and digital radiography, online patient registration system, biomedical waste management. These facilities will not only provide better treatment to animals but will also provide practical training on modern techniques to veterinary students.

Every year thousands of animals are treated

The Veterinary Clinical Complex of Bihar Veterinary College is already a major veterinary center in the state. About 15 thousand clinical cases are treated here every year. Apart from this, about 5 thousand samples are also tested for various diseases. After the construction of the new complex, the treatment capacity and quality of health services are likely to improve further.
