Great news for the women of Bihar, the government is giving the gift of pension.

Patna. A big relief news has come out for the women of Bihar. The state government has further strengthened the process of providing financial assistance to widowed women under the Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme. This scheme is being run especially with the objective of providing financial security to poor and BPL category widows.

The main objective of this scheme is to provide financial assistance to the poor widow women of the society to make them self-reliant and to give them a sense of social security. The government believes that along with financial help, women should also get respect and social security.

pension amount

Earlier under this scheme the beneficiaries used to get Rs 400 per month. But in the year 2025 it has been increased to Rs 1100 per month. This amount is sent directly to the bank accounts of women beneficiaries through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

Eligibility

Some conditions are prescribed to avail the benefits of this scheme:

The female applicant should be a resident of Bihar.

The woman is a widow.

Age should be between 40 to 79 years.

The female family belongs to BPL category.

The woman should not be taking benefit of any other social security pension scheme.

application process

To get pension, eligible women will have to fill their application and submit it at the RTPS counter of the concerned block office. After submitting the application they will be given a receipt, which should be preserved in case it is required in future. Information about acceptance or rejection of the application is given to the beneficiaries through SMS or email.
