Former Indian cricketer Anil Kumble has praised the decision by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to include Sanju Samson in the team. He has called it a very important and right step according to the needs of the team. Samson has been included in CSK after being traded from Rajasthan Royals (RR), after which he will be seen in yellow jersey in the upcoming IPL.
Let us tell you, Sanju Samson was a part of Rajasthan Royals for a long time and represented the team for more than a decade. Considering his experience and leadership, Kumble believes that he will prove to be an important player for CSK.
Kumble said that generational change has always been seen in Indian cricket, where players like Sunil Gavaskar to Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni have emerged. In this sequence, players like Sanju Samson are now emerging in new roles.
He also said that Samson being from Kerala, knowledge of Tamil language and his role as a wicketkeeper-batsman make him a natural fit for CSK. Also, his experience will strengthen the team’s strategy and will also help in increasing the fan base.
According to Kumble, Sanju Samson is also suitable to play the role of vice-captain in CSK due to his captaincy experience with Rajasthan Royals. He indicated that in future he can become an important part of the team’s leadership group.
He also said that if needed, MS Dhoni can hand over the responsibility of wicketkeeping to Samson and he can be a strong option in the captaincy position as well.
Overall, Kumble believes that Sanju Samson’s arrival in CSK will prove beneficial for the team and this decision can increase the strength of the team in the coming season.
