Great war broke out in Hormuz! When Trump opened the way, Iran threatened to block the Red Sea, will there be a commercial chaos in the world?
Amidst the ongoing tension in West Asia, the Strait of Hormuz once again seems to be standing on a pile of gunpowder. Even though there have been reports of ceasefire for a few days, the war of words between America and Iran has now reached a dangerous turn. Recently, peace talks were held between the two countries in Pakistan’s capital Islamabad, but no result could be achieved.
After the failure of peace talks, US President Donald Trump had made a big announcement that the US Navy will now blockade the Strait of Hormuz. This decision of Trump had increased the heartbeats of Iran, in response to which Iran’s powerful army IRGC (Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps) has directly given a big warning to the US Navy.
IRGC’s warning: ‘There will be no import, no export’
Iranian army IRGC has said in strong words that if America tries to impose any kind of military blockade near Hormuz, the whole world will have to bear the consequences. Iran has threatened that if its trade interests are hurt, it will not allow imports or exports to any country in the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman.
Not only this, the IRGC challenged the US and said that if the blockade continues, the Iranian armed forces will completely stop the flow of global trade through the Red Sea. This means that the supply of oil and essential goods may come to a halt in a large part of the world.
Trump’s U-turn and largesse on China
Here on Wednesday there was an interesting twist in American politics. President Donald Trump retreated from his previous aggressive strategy and made a new announcement. He wrote on his social media platform ‘Truth’ that America is now opening the Strait of Hormuz to China and the whole world. This decision of Trump shows his soft attitude towards China.
Trump wrote in his post that when he visits China, he hopes that President Xi Jinping will give him a grand welcome and will also embrace him after this decision. Trump claimed that it has been agreed between him and China that Beijing will no longer supply any type of weapons to Iran.
Arms deals and Beijing’s stance
However, amid these claims of Trump, Beijing’s stance seems slightly different. Earlier, China had completely rejected those reports, which claimed that it was preparing to send state-of-the-art air defense systems and other deadly military equipment to Iran. But Trump in his latest post stressed that now the Strait of Hormuz will be open for trade with China as well as the entire world. Now it remains to be seen what is the next step of the US Navy and the Trump administration after Iran’s threat.
