Bhoomipujan of ‘Maharashtra Bhawan’ expansion in Mauritius, new strength to India-Mauritius relations
An important step that gave a new height to the relations between India and Mauritius was taken in Moka, Mauritius, where the bhoomi pujan of the expansion of ‘Maharashtra Bhavan’ was completed. This initiative is being considered to further deepen the cultural and social relations between the two countries. BJP state president Ravindra Chavan was prominently present in the program.

State President Ravindra Chavan said that the relationship between Maharashtra and Mauritius is not limited to just diplomacy, but it is an emotional and cultural bond linked to generations, which the Marathi society here is still maintaining with full devotion. On the initiative of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the state government has provided a fund of Rs 8 crore for the construction of Maharashtra Bhavan in Mauritius. This project will provide a big and modern platform to the Marathi community in Mauritius, where cultural and social activities will gain further momentum.

Important discussion on digital security, artificial intelligence
BJP State President Ravindra Chavan, during his two-day visit to Mauritius, held an important meeting with many top leaders of the country including Mauritius President Dharambir Gokhul, during which topics like India-Mauritius relations, tourism, Artificial Intelligence and cyber security were discussed. Also, steps were taken towards strengthening the relations between the two countries through cultural programs and dialogue with various institutions. Apart from this, necessary discussions were also held with Foreign Minister Dhananjay Ramful, IT Minister Avinash Ramtohool and Cultural Minister Mahendra Gondia on increasing cooperation. During this, President Dharambir Gokhul praised the work of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, saying, “Mauritius is the younger brother of India.” He also expressed his gratitude for the cooperation given by India. At the same time, Dr. Ramtohool especially appreciated the transparency brought through GPS technology in the rationing system in Maharashtra and he also said that India’s cooperation is necessary to make Mauritius the ‘gateway’ of AI sector for Africa.

During the visit of BJP State President Ravindra Chavan, relations between India and Mauritius have been further strengthened through participation in cultural programs, grants to Marathi institutions and dialogue with various social organizations. The expansion of Maharashtra Bhavan will not only strengthen the cultural identity but will also open new avenues of cooperation between India and Mauritius. This is being seen as the beginning of a new chapter in the relations between the two regions. A proposal to name the auditorium of the building after ‘Swatantryaveer Savarkar’ also came forward, which got the support of the local people.
