Car rams into Christmas crowd in Guadeloupe, France, 10 dead… Investigation into cause of accident begins
Guadeloupe Christmas Event Crash: In France’s overseas territory Guadeloupe, the atmosphere of joy suddenly turned into mourning amidst preparations for Christmas. A car drove rapidly into a crowd of people on the Schoelcher Square in Sainte-Anne. At least 10 people died and 19 were injured in this terrible accident. Local authorities have immediately started an investigation to find out the cause of the incident.
Weeds tragically on Shoelcher Square
A terrible accident occurred amid preparations for the Christmas festival in Sainte-Anne, Guadeloupe, an overseas territory of France. A car went out of control and entered the crowd of people preparing for the ongoing Christmas event at Shoelcher Square, located in front of the Town Hall and the Church. At least 10 people died and 19 were injured in this tragic accident. According to Radio Caribes Internationale (RCI) Guadeloupe, three of the injured are in critical condition.
Investigation into the cause of the accident begins
What caused this accident is not yet known. As soon as information about the incident was received, firefighters, paramedics and police officers quickly reached the spot. After this the mayor of the city also reached the spot. Officials have started an investigation to find out the cause of the incident.
Witnesses told RCI that the driver may have suffered some kind of medical emergency while driving, due to which he lost control. However, this is only speculation and officials have not confirmed it yet. It is a matter of relief that the person driving the car was present there even after the incident.
Injured were sent to hospital
Immediately after the accident, the rescue team reached the spot and sent the injured to the hospital as soon as possible. A special team has been activated to provide assistance to the victims of this horrific accident and their families.

The incident is reminiscent of a similar incident that took place in Germany last year. Last year, a car plowed into a crowd at a Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany, killing at least two people and injuring 68. The driver was arrested in that incident and was a Saudi doctor. This accident in Guadeloupe has once again raised questions on safety in crowded areas during festivals.
