Gujarat spinner Shatters 60+ years long Ranji Trophy Bowling record against Uttarakhand
Gujarat’s spinner Siddharth Desai was the star of the match against Uttarakhand in the 2nd phase of Ranji Trophy 2024-25. He came out of the match with bowling figure of 9 for 36.
Gujarat spinner Siddharth Desai took nine wickets against Uttarakhand during the second phase of Ranji Trophy 2024-25 at the Gujarat College Cricket Ground A in Ahmedabad.
The left-arm spinner finished the innings with nine wickets on him, while giving out just 36 runs. With this outing, he broke Jasubhai Motibhai Patel’s record of 8-21, which was set during 1960-61 season of the tournament. Uttarakhand was bundled out on just 111 runs.
Siddharth registered his first wicket in the fifth over when he picked Priyanshu Khanduri’s wicket. His nine-wicket haul started with that. Afterwards, he was quick to send P S Khanduri, Samarth R, and Yuvrah Choudhary back to the dugout in span of four deliveries.

Siddharth Desai’s bowling figure is now the 3rd best in the history of Ranji Trophy. The record for the best spell has been registered by Haryana’s Anshul Kamboj, who picked up all ten wickets against Kerala earlier this season.
Gujarat are a part of Group B. Vidarbha, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Hyderabad, Andhra and Puducherry are the other teams in the same group.
