Gujarat Titans (GT) has achieved its sixth win in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. The team captained by Shubman Gill has staked its claim for the playoffs by registering a 4-wicket win against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Sunday (May 3). GT has 12 points in 10 matches. GT is currently at fifth position but is just 1 point behind PBKS at the top.
GT has achieved 5 wins out of 6 this season while chasing the target. She has failed to chase the target only twice. So far in IPL, he has made successful chases 27 times in 40 matches. This is why Gill won the toss and decided to bowl first in Ahmedabad on Sunday. He clearly said that we are doing good run chase. So want to continue this momentum.

Washington Sundar finished the match
GT, bowling first, restricted PBKS to 163 runs. Thanks to the lethal bowling of Mohammad Siraj, Kagiso Rabada and Jason Holder, GT had bowled out half the innings of PBKS for 47 runs. After this, Suryansh Shedge (57 runs in 29 balls) and Marcus Stoinis (40 runs in 31 balls) took PBKS to a respectable score but GT ruined their hard work.
After the half-century innings of Sai Sudarshan (57), Washington Sundar took GT to the threshold of victory by scoring unbeaten 40 runs in 23 balls. GT lost wickets at regular intervals in the run chase, leaving them with 11 runs to win in the last over. Marcus Stoinis, who brought the last over for PBKS, bowled the first ball wide. Arshad Khan gave relief to GT with a four on his first league ball but Stoinis conceded 3 runs in the next 3 balls and revived PBKS’s hopes.
From here GT needed 3 runs in 2 balls. It seemed that the match would go till the last ball but Sundar ended the match one ball earlier by hitting a six. With this, GT scored a hat-trick of wins for the second time this season. On the other hand, PBKS, which started the season with 6 consecutive wins, had to face its second back to back defeat.
