Gujarati Khakhra Recipe

Material

  • Wheat flour – 1 cup
  • Fenugreek leaves (or Kasuri methi) – 2 tbsp
  • Turmeric – ¼ teaspoon
  • Red chilli – ½ teaspoon
  • Celery – ½ teaspoon
  • Oil – 1 tbsp
  • Salt – as per taste
  • Water – as per requirement

Method of preparation

  1. In a large vessel, add wheat flour, turmeric, red chilli, salt, celery and fenugreek and mix well.
  2. Add water little by little and knead a hard but soft dough.
  3. Cover the dough with a cloth and keep it aside for 10 minutes.
  4. Now make small balls of dough and roll them like thin roti.
  5. Heat the pan and put the rolled roti on it.
  6. Cook on both sides on low flame and then press with a cloth or press to make it crisp.
  7. Keep baking until both sides become golden and crispy.
  8. Cool the prepared khakhra and store it in an airtight container.
