IND vs AFG: Gurnoor Brar’s blast in ODI series, created history by taking 7 wickets
Gurnoor Brar Creates History in IND vs AFG ODI Series: Indian fast bowler Gurnoor Brar has created history by performing brilliantly in his first ODI series against Afghanistan. This left-arm fast bowler took a total of 7 wickets in the three-match debut ODI series, which is the most wickets by any Indian bowler in the debut ODI series. With this performance he has left behind the records of Yuzvendra Chahal and Prasidh Krishna.
History was created as soon as Mohammad Nabi took the wicket
In the third and final ODI match played at M. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai, Gurnoor Brar took the seventh wicket of his debut series when he dismissed Afghanistan’s experienced all-rounder Mohammad Nabi. With this, he became the first Indian bowler to take 7 wickets in his first three-match ODI series.
Gurnoor took 3 wickets in the first match of the series. After this, in the second match also he continued his excellent form by taking 3 wickets. He achieved this historic feat by taking another wicket in the third match.
Chahal and Prasidh Krishna left behind
Earlier, the joint record of taking most wickets in a three-match debut ODI series was in the name of Yuzvendra Chahal and Prasidh Krishna. Chahal took 6 wickets in his debut series against Zimbabwe in 2016, while Prasidh Krishna took 6 wickets in his first ODI series against England in 2021. Gurnoor has left both of them behind by taking 7 wickets.
Wreaks havoc on batsmen with his height of 6 feet 5 inches
25-year-old Gurnoor Brar plays domestic cricket for Punjab. Standing about 6 feet 5 inches tall, this left-arm fast bowler is known for his extra bounce and fast pace. Due to his excellent performance in Ranji Trophy, he caught the attention of the selectors and he got a chance to play for India A as well.
