Had romantic relationship with colleague, Nestle sacked CEO
Chocolate and toffee maker Nestle did not like its CEO’s office relationship, so he dismissed him. The company said CEO Laurent Freix has been removed from his position following an investigation into ‘disclosed relationships’.
The company said in a statement that such undeclared relationships are a violation of Nestlé’s code of conduct. Freix was Nestle’s CEO for a year and will now be replaced by Philippe Navratil.
Nestle Chairman Paul Bulke said that this decision has been taken after investigation, which was necessary. He said that Nestle’s values and governance are the strong foundation of the company. However, he did not give any further details about the investigation.

Nestle said that the investigation revealed that Laurent Freix was in a ‘romantic relationship’ with a colleague and he had not disclosed information about this relationship, which is a violation of company rules.
The company said that the matter was investigated. This investigation was conducted under the supervision of Chairman Paul Bulke. This investigation was done by the company’s independent director Pablo Isla. In sacking Frekes, chairman Paul Bulke said it was a very important decision.

Freaks was associated with Nestle since 1986
John Freeks was associated with Nestle since 1986. Apart from Nestle, he has held important positions in many other big companies. In January 2022, he was made CEO of Latin America. In August 2024, he was appointed CEO, replacing then-CEO Mark Schneider.
At the same time, Philip Navratil, who has now become the CEO in place of Freix, was associated with Nestle since 2001. In 2020 he joined Nestlé’s Coffee Strategic Business Unit. In 2024, he was made the CEO of Nestlé’s Nespresso division.
