Half-baked preparation, not even a place in the team… Why Ravi Bishnoi’s selection?
In the second T20 match played in Manchester on Saturday (July 4), England defeated India by 4 wickets. Indian captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and decided to bat first. Team India scored 190 runs by losing 7 wickets in 20 overs. In reply, England did not have a good start. He lost both his openers in the very first over. Despite this, the host team reached the target with 1 over left.
Jacob Bethel played an unbeaten inning of 76 runs in 46 balls with the help of 5 fours and 5 sixes. Captain Harry Brook scored 39 runs in 15 balls. The turning point of England’s victory was the 17th over. Ravi Bishnoi spent 29 runs in this over, due to which the match went to England. Bishnoi bowled 2 backfoot no-balls in this over. Bethel took full advantage of this and hit sixes on both the free-hits.
Earlier also in the fourth over of England’s innings, Bishnoi had bowled a backfoot no-ball, on whose free hit Bethel had hit a four. Bishnoi gave away 10 percent of India’s total runs on 3 no-balls and his free-hit, which became a major reason for the defeat.

Half-baked preparation ruined the fleet
Spinners generally do not bowl no-balls. Sometimes he gets a front foot no-ball, but a back foot no-ball indicates that the preparation is half-baked. During his bowling, Bishnoi was focusing more on where his feet were landing than on the line-length of the ball. This shows that he has not worked hard in the nets or his mistakes have not been corrected during practice.

There is a surprise entry in Bishnoi’s team.
Ravi Bishnoi returned to the Indian team just before the T20 World Cup held in February-March this year. He joined Team India as an injury replacement in the T20 series against New Zealand. Due to injury to Washington Sundar, he got to play 2 matches, in which he took 3 wickets. After this, in IPL 2026, Rajasthan Royals gave him a chance in only 9 matches. Bishnoi took 11 wickets in these 9 matches. During this period his economy was 9.88. In view of this, his selection for the tour of Ireland and England is surprising.
There is no place for Bishnoi
The Indian team had kept Bishnoi out of the playing XI in Ireland but he got a chance in both the T20 matches against England. By playing Bishnoi along with Axar Patel and Varun Chakraborty, Team India is fielding with one less batsman. The result of this is that after the fall of 2-3 wickets the run rate is suddenly slowing down. There is a need for one batsman to anchor the innings, due to which the Indian team is failing to reach the winning total. By playing Bishnoi, an all-rounder has to go out. In such a situation, the question arises that when there is no place for Bishnoi, then why was he selected?
