HAL’s response to the news of crash of Tejas fighter jet, flights of 30 aircraft were stopped, know the whole matter

New Delhi: Manufacturing company Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has issued a detailed clarification on the news of the crash of indigenous fighter aircraft LCA Tejas. HAL completely rejected these claims and said that there was no crash of Tejas aircraft, rather it was a minor technical problem on the ground.

The company said in its statement that the safety record of Tejas is the best among modern fighter aircraft in the world. The incident in question is being thoroughly investigated as per standard procedures. HAL also said that it is working with the Indian Air Force (IAF) to find a solution to this problem as soon as possible. The company has also appealed to the media not to spread misinformation without verifying the facts.

After all, what was the incident of 7th February?

This entire matter is related to an incident that took place at a frontline airbase on 7 February. According to reports, the single-seat Tejas jet returning from a training sortie had overshot the runway during landing. Initial investigation said the cause was suspected brake failure. In this incident the pilot managed to escape completely safely.

Following the incident, the Indian Air Force, as a precautionary measure, had grounded its entire fleet of around 30 single-seater Tejas jets. All these aircraft are being thoroughly examined technically so that any such incident can be prevented in future. This was the third accident involving Tejas.

Deals worth crores and delay in delivery

This development comes at a time when HAL has missed several deadlines to supply Tejas Mark 1A variants to the Indian Air Force. Let us tell you that in February 2021, the Defense Ministry had signed a deal worth Rs 48,000 crore with HAL to buy 83 Tejas Mk-1A jets for the Air Force.

Apart from this, another big deal worth Rs 62,370 crore was approved for the purchase of 97 more Tejas MK-1A aircraft in September last year. One of the main reasons for the delay in the delivery of the jet is also believed to be the delay in the supply of engines by American company GE Aerospace. At present, a final decision on the operation of the Tejas fleet will be taken only after the investigation is completed.
